This is the Harlan style Balsa Stripper I created for myself. The base plate is a piece of 3/16" X 3-3/4" X 24" piece of 6061 aluminum plate. It has a top surface of self healing vinyl cutting mat double side taped to it. The micrometer heads came from a set of 3 I picked up at Harbor Freight for US$30.00 for the set. The aluminum straight edge and the other aluminum stock came from a scrap yard for US$1.50 per lb. All told I have about US$30.00 invested in the materials. Thank goodness I didn't have to pay for the time I spent on it. If it wasn't for the joy of creating my own custom built tool it would have been far quicker and cheaper to just buy a Harlan.
