Bostonian Loading Stick

I used to wind my Bostonian using a blast tube and holding fixture but I got tired of damaging the plane while messing around with removing the tube and winder extensions and knocking the trim out of adjustment getting the plane off the fixture. Once a motor even broke inside the blast tube and the resulting recoil damaged the plane! So I came up with the following method using a loading stick and winding off the plane. It works really well and I haven't had a winding accident since.

1. Balsa loading stick slightly longer than the fuse with brackets on each end to hold the plug and the peg. The peg is a piece of 1/16 aluminum tube with a detachable triangular shaped wire loop that you can see on the torque meter hook

2. Transfer motor to loading stick.

3. Insert the whole enchilada in the fuse until the plug seats.

4. Hold the wire loop and transfer the peg to 2 "U" shaped notches in aft end of fuse. (Note that we even gained about 3/16" in motor extension over the old location!) Remove wire loop and slide loading stick out the end of fuse. The peg has 2 small plywood washers glued in place to stabilize its position between the notches in the fuse or loading stick bracket.
