Microfilm Information

I deal with microfilm making since thirty years. The receipt was developed through the last ten years and I am using the same, standard components. The well poured microfilm has uniform colors, easy to pour, spreading well, easy to lift, it is not sticky, doesn't tighten and shrink, it is properly tough and durable. I make pouring tests from every mixture, so I sell only solutions of excellent quality.

Text Box: My pouring recommendations:

To get the most beautiful glittering film pour it on cold rain water (15-18°C). If you pour it on warmer water, it won't spread well and uniformly. You may use also distilled water. Using tap water the film will dry spotty.

• pour in a dry, cool, dustless, but good ventilated room
• the pouring tank size must be minimum 60x120 cm and the water depth at least 15 mm
• the thickness of the film can be regulated very well with the quantity of the pouring
• I am pouring from a ca. 3 ml (3 cm3) medicine glass
• pour slowly and smoothly 20-30 mm from the water
• do not stretch the poured film
• the poured film can be lifted after 3-5 minutes using a wet medium hard balsa frame
• the film can be used 4-5 days after the pouring
• don't use any glue containing organic solvents in the boxes used for store and transport the films or the models.

In case you need the microfilm solution can be thinned using a mixture of acetone (C3H6O) and ethyl acetate (C4H8O2) in 1:2 ratio.

Do not forget: microfilm is an inflammable material !
